Confession Friday

***
This confession thing seemed like a good idea but then I sort of lost enthusiasm for it so Julochka's confession made me think I need to keep up.

Because it means it really was a good idea if others want to take part. Perhaps we should all have confessions, just pick a day...
*
To the confessional -
* I hate it when people leave rude/pointless comments on the blogger. Why, WHY??? Are you THAT bored? This made me switch the comment moderation on again and I hate that thing too.

* I'm still working on my life-blogging balance

* During my birthday week I've been going out a little too much and a little too often. It's starting to take its toll. This weekend will be a quiet one. But thank you all for your good wishes, I am really, really touched to have received so many!!! They make the whole aging thing a little easier...

* But the most exciting news this week was that I may be going climbing in Chamonix in August. If you're a climber, you know what this means.
That even beats the fact that I'll be in Cambodia and Vietnam in October, does it sound crazy or what? Am I getting addicted to climbing...

* In preparation for the new teaching job interview I spent more time than usual reading news. After years of reading The Guardian I've realised I prefer The Times. Does it mean I'm getting old?

* I watched Nowhere in Africa the other night and it's one of the most beautiful, visually stunning and poignant films I saw in ages.

* I've been thinking an awful lot about marshmallows. Again.

* I've also been getting worried about that idea of getting a tattoo...

Polly, I didn't know you were entering the teaching field? You'll have a very rewarding as well as exciting profession.

And my confession today? I still miss my teaching/administrating days, children and caring adults around me all day long.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I didn't realize it was your birthday!
I'm always thinking about marshmallows. Everyone does, right? You mean, it's not normal?
Definitely keep up with the confessions! I'm going to tale part too, so obviously think it's a good idea.

I am a little scared but I could be up for some confessions. However it might tip the scales of my blogging life balance.
I’ve always thought marshmallow is a strange word.
The climbing sounds so interesting.

Hi Polly
I am going to chase down the novel you reccomended, thanks
A climber...now that requires a certain fitness level...How do you maintain that?

Good luck with the job interview

Happy Days

I saw your comment regarding the Spanish language song at CiL's (the Cuban). Thank you, Polly. It is better to agree than to disagree, and to pass a smile to each other in understanding if there are times we cannot agree.

Reading through your blog, it is evident you are a gentle soul, so I wish you well.

Your blog is beautiful to see, and your words are wonderful to read.

Happy birthday, young lady.

happy belated birthday to you! hope you had a lovely, lovely day!

i really love that confession thing, by the way. perhaps i should join in? - also, that's so exciting about your climbing holiday, bet you're looking forward to it! are we talking freeclimbing and/or abseiling here? if so, wow - you must be quite brave.

Lakeviewer, I've been working in education for a while now but am now hoping to do a bit more undergrad teaching. Keep your fingers crossed!

B - thank you! And yes, I think everyone secretly dreams of marshmallows

Liss, I look forward to your confessions

Delwyn - I think it's climbing that maintains my fitness levels. Or perhaps my enthusiasm for climbing

Fram - thank you for visiting my blog and for your kind words. I love your profile pic, by the way!

Kristina - thank you! And yes, try the confession thing, it's quite interesting. Freeclimbing and abseiling are not my thing, actually. I climb on a very tight rope, I need that to feel safe because I actually have a little vertigo... crazy!

Happy birthday♥

I'm a tad bit afraid to start confessing regularly too...but I guess that is why it is probably necessary;-)

I wish you the best of luck with all of your endeavors!

I know what you mean about the marshmallows. We recently discovered Trader Joe's Chocolate-Covered Almonds (and cherries, and cranberries) and I'm so sorry we did. Vertigo? And you're a climber? Buh-rave! Confession today (even tho it's Saturday): After months and months of rain, I want to complain that the house is 80 degrees. I do love the sun tho!
Happy Birthday and Bon Weekend!

'After years of reading The Guardian I've realised I prefer The Times'

I'm still crying after reading that sentence. No, how could you? :-)

OK, I'll give you Aaranovitch. But hey, he wrote for The Grauniad before and... he has never apologised for supporting the invasion to Iraq! David, are you reading this? I'm still waiting, mate.

I do read The Times online. Their art reviews, especially the dance ones are very good, and on a good day the editorial is quite balanced. But, as a leftie, or centre-leftie, or liberal, or muesli-eating, sandal-wearing... oh... whatevs. No, I could not betray The Observer and The Guardian. Plus, I NEED to read Miranda Sawyer in The Observer Music supplement every month. And I NEED my weekly dose of Marina Hyde in the Sports, Lost in Showbiz and Comments section.

On the comemnts moderation, I totally agree, it's a drag. And yet, your blog is not controversial, I wonder why you get the nasty feedback.

I ordered 'Nowhere in Africa' after reading the review by Willow on her blog and I'm still waiting for it. ILoveFilms, are you there? Are you reading? I put high priority!

Good luck with your mountain climbing. I once worked with a man who liked mountaing climbing and diving. We used to joke with him that he was a man of extremes.

Good luck with your teaching, too. That's the most important profession in the world. It's a pity that it's sp underrated.

Greetings from London.

Polly - Happy belated birthday to one of my favorite bloggers! Sounds like you wore yourself out with many celebrations.
I am one of your readers who really enjoy your Confessions. Last week you actually brought tears to my eyes because I felt so many of the same things. It would be difficult for me to express those feelings and you made me feel less alone.
Your upcoming trips sound fascinating. I'm excited for you. I love to travel and I'm ready to go again, even though I've just returned home.
Love to you -
Catherine
